From Poverty to College and Beyond!
Meet Deepa
Deepa and her family live in Pune, India. Deepa’s father works as a driver and her mother works as a housekeeper. Deepa is 19 years old and has a younger brother. The family of four live in a very poor area in Pune. Deepa recently finished her high school education and like any young girl, has dreams for her future. She dreams of becoming a nurse. Deepa shared her desire of attending Nursing school with Esther, our Director in India, and that it seemed unreachable, as there were many obstacles in the way. Would a school accept her and if they did, how would she ever pay for it?
But there is a way for her. After many calls to different schools, Deepa was accepted to attend the Martin Luther School of Nursing, a Nursing College in Hubli Karnataka, India. She went forward and her story was shared, and within weeks Deepa’s funding was provided. The Mantis Foundation College Fund is a generous way to help more girls like her.
Many families get stuck in a cycle of poverty because the resources to break out of this cycle are unavailable. Helping girls like Deepa not only give them an opportunity for an education, a career and a better life, but it helps the whole family as each member helps to support one another.
Currently there are about 50 girls in our Children's Home who need funding to go to college. Please consider helping provide for their future by donating to The Mantis Foundation
