Coronavirus in India is not like it is here in America. They don't have the same resources that we have so the main tool that they have to combat the virus is LOCKDOWN. One major hotspot for Covid 19 cases is in Pune, right in the center of our mission field. This area has been completely locked down for almost a year now, and is slowly starting to re-open. The toll this virus has taken on the people there is devastating.
India doesn't have a welfare system or unemployment where people have access to money if they don't work. This has posed a much deeper issue in that people are literally starving to death. Hunger now is the number one issue people are facing here. Also, many families are committing suicide because they can't provide for themselves.
Fortunately, through financial help, we are reaching out to the community. We have been able to help feed many families by providing rice and lentils for them.
The Mantis Foundation is helping by sending funds to buy more food and send it to more families. We don't know how long this virus will cripple the community but we are determined to make a difference. As aggravated as we may get with all the issues going on here in America, we have to know that we are still living in huge abundance in comparison to the poorest people in the world.
Help us provide Buckets of Hope to these communities.
